About

Always growing older - never growing up.

Eclectic random geekery: Star Wars, Doctor Who, Sci-Fi, science, photography, LEGO, and stupid, stupid things.

This is my personal opinion / reblogging blog. If you're after my personal photos or awful photoshop creations, the links are below.

As they say in the classics "I'm too old for this shit".

That said, I live in sunny Brisbane (Australia), forging a career in advertising / marketing whilst enjoying life as it comes.

I take photos on my iPhone, listen to (a lot of) music on my iPhone, and like Star Wars. So yes, I'm a geek.

That's about it.

Party on!

Tonight I’m Frakking You

I think my favourite bit (apart from Kunal Nayyar’s brilliant rap) is Richard Hatch’s cameo.

Damn, this is all my geek dreams come true! Wonder Woman, Spock, Darth Vader, Spiderman, Pacman (or his wife, I’m not too sure about that one) … and heaps more!

Sing along!

I’m like Kenobi
Seeking passage to Alderaan with you
We’ll watch Big Bang Theory
As you ride my TARDIS and call me Doctor Who

You’re into Cosplay (oooh)
Damn that’s one fine skin job on you.
Beam Me Up Hottie (oooo oooh)
My Vulcan Logic tells me its time to groove

Across the federation
My Jedi inclination
Tells me that I am a suitable mate for you
We Love Next Generation
Xbox over Playstation
Its time that I tap from your Mana Pool

Cause tonight I’m Frakking You
Whoa you know
That tonight I’m Frakking You
Whoa you know
Are You Gwen Stacey
My Spidey sense says I’d shoot my web all on you
I’m No Fergengi
I drop more coin than Mario on mushrooms

Your Dharma education
Delorean transporation
Revs my engine to warp speed like Mr. Sulu
Dollhouse’s cancellation
Hurt like Luke’s amputation
Its time to Mork Me and say Nanoo Nanoo

Cause tonight I’m Frakking You
Whoa you know
That tonight I’m Frakking You
Whoa you know

Ha! Kunal…
Let’s Meet Up In Naboo
We’ll roll around like R2-D2
You’ve set my phasers to stun
Cause your Sarlaac Pit’s
Got more spice in it
Than the planet Dune

From Asgard’s
Hallowed halls
Everybody big bangs Kunal
Gotham or Hogwarts
My Broad Sword’ll Be the one
Thing To Rule them all
Lets clone your body
Join them all together to form a Guild
and go on a Quest
We can use my expansion pack
Then I’ll take you down like Boba Fett
Up Up, Down Down
Left, Right, Left Right
B, A, Select then Start
Its time to one-up
Thirty lives with you, (cuz tonight I’m)

Cuz tonight I’m Frakking You
Whoa you know
That tonight I’m Frakking You
Whoa you know
That tonight I’m Frakking You

More Sci-Fi cakes!

  • Doctor Who’s Daleks become an Extermi-CAKE!
  • The Marshmallow man from Ghostbusters was already edible, so this isn’t really fair.
  • How lucky is Luke? Star Wars cakes for life for this kid!
  • The Battlestar Galactica finds its way home into our tummy. Frak that!
  • You can’t keep a good girl down. Buffy rises from the dead. Again.
  • What would Castle think of the the good ship Serenity on a plate?

All featured at the delectible Cake Wrecks: Ode to Dragon*Con page and Must-See TV page.

"Yes. It’s insane. And it’s about to get even more insanerer

Is that even a word?” - The Doctor, Doctor Who season  episode ‘The Rebel Flesh’

Is that Odo? Voldemort? Or just a Battlestar Galactica crossover?

Took her long enough.
That’s the issue I had with the recent “BSG Currency” designs that were floating around. Yeah, sure, there was a lot of work in them, and they looked great … but they weren’t 8 sided.
Ergo, not enough research!

This Won’t End Well
But can you imagine the conversation?
Well, I’ve died twice - six times if you count alternative universes!
There are so many of me, I’ve lost count.
Umm, twice, but really neither count because I became a plastic centurian, and the other time I didn’t really die, well maybe I did … I’ll just keep quiet, hey?
Mmmmmpfh mmpfh mmmmpffh mmpfh mmpfh mmmpffh  mmpfh mpfh mmpffh mmpfh mpfh mmpfffh!
No idea what you lot are talking about. Captain told me to keep an eye on you, that’s all. If this goes without a hitch, I’ll get to go on the next away mission!

All of this has happened before …

We lived on farms, then we lived in cities, and now we’re going to live on the internet!

… and it will all happen again

While on holiday last week on the slightly-rainy Gold Coast, we finally dug out the DVD of BBC’s 2010 production of Sherlock.
OMFG - it’s absolutely brilliant!
Sadly the first season is only three 90 minute episodes, but with Season 2 this year there’ll be three more episodes to keep my new addiction going (including a version of The Hound of the Baskervilles if rumours are true).
If you enjoy detective stories / the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories / Doctor Who (Steven Moffat produces both) / or just brilliant storytelling combined with fantastic characterisation that have been superbly sculpted by outstanding directing, scripts and cinematography, then do yourself a favour and WATCH SHERLOCK NOW!  Do not pass go, do not collect $200.
It’s like the recently re-imagined Battlestar Galactica (another must-see piece of art disguised as television entertainment). Both series took the essence of genius from the original, and brought them screaming into the 21st Century.
While this new, sociopathic Holmes continues to use deduction as his main method of investigation, he’s not averse to searching the twitterverse or using his iPhone to get the latest police updates. And the battle-scarred Watson (who has seen his share of grisly deaths thanks to his tour of Afghanistan) continues his love / disgust affair with the great man.
And unlike Robert Downey Jr.’s movie, you get to cower at the intense insanity of the psychopathic Moriarty - an interpretation that both Heath Ledger’s Joker & John Simm’s The Master would find impressive.
Congratulations to co-creators Steven Moffat & Mark Gatiss; actors Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Martin Freeman (Watson), Una Stubbs (Mrs. Hudson the landlady), Rupert Graves (Lestrade), Andrew Scott (Molly’s boyfriend Jim - the gay IT guy), and last, but definitely not least, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Enough ranting. If you have yet to succumb to this delight, just watch Sherlock and thank me later.
