‘Doctor Who’ at 50: Meet the 11 faces of the Time Lord | Hero Complex

via the LA Times:

“Doctor Who” returns Saturday with “The Bells of St. John,” starring Jenna-Louise Coleman as mysterious new companion Clara opposite Matt Smith’s Doctor.

It’s an auspicious year for “Doctor Who” as the sci-fi series turns 50. Whovians are celebrating the anniversary with commemorative postage stamps, an audio drama, a three-day event in London and two TV movies — one about the filming of the first “Who” episode and the second an adventure rumored to feature all 11 incarnations of the Doctor.

“In Britain, you can practically define yourself, your generation by which actor played the Doctor when you were a kid,” executive producer Steven Moffat told Hero Complex.

To celebrate 50 years of “Who,” Hero Complex takes a look at the many faces of the time-traveling Doctor, as well as the monsters he fought and the friends who traveled with him, in an anniversary graphic, below. Let us know which Doctor is your Doctor in the comments….

It’s a hugnormous image so click through to Hero Complex to see the entire thing.

‘Gallifrey’s 11’ - Trimmed and framed Taking pics for the eBay listings of the original paintings - links will appear here in just a few minutes :) Apologies for the slightly wonky alignment of the frames in the pic, I’m not a curator. I’m not even a cur-seven-er! (I know, I know…)
Hopefully sorting the logistics of the prints tomorrow - they’ll be available as a complete set of 11 prints at around 8” x 10”, and select Doctors will be available in a larger format.
Thanks for your exceedingly kind words, as always! Sorting the eBay listings right now xMy site / My Facebook / Original Art on eBay

Well, the wallets did the talking … So WHO turned out to be the most popular WHO?
No surprises, Doctor number four - the manic Tom Baker. But a pleasant surprise was to find Matt Smith coming in at number two.
Here’s the final rankings (eBay auctions):
Tom Baker $355
Matt Smith $320.75
David Tennant $305.00
Christopher Eccleston $300.75
Colin Baker $202.50
William Hartnell $152.50
Jon Pertwee $110.49
Sylvester McCoy $107.50
Paul McGann $103.50
Peter Davison $102.50
Patrick Troughton $95

‘It’s bigger on the inside’ - the TARDIS through the years

I absolutely adore the “secondary console” room, but my two favourites have to be the David Tennant mega-gothic & Matt Smith’s first console room. The new one is a nice nod to history, and I have a feeling will grow on me.I’d love to have seen more of the 8th Doctor’s console room. Sigh, not to be.

nerdache-cakes:

It’s Who Week! We start off with an order I got this week from Baby Mason and his Whovian parents who wanted to celebrate his 3rd birthday is true who style.

With a Winnie the Pooh/Doctor Who crossover cake! I just love crossover cakes.

The quality parent’s wanted the cake based on this T-shirt (Which I had trouble tracking down, but eventually found the true artist. Thanks, Google Images!)

They also thought Tigger needed a companion- So in steps Piglet the crafty Dalek, made from things he found around his house.

Tigger and Piglet are free standing fondant/chocolate figures and the POLISE BOCS is made from chocolate-hazelnut cake with tri-chocolate buttercream.

More photos in the Facebook album!

Cake made by a 19 year old! Aside from the fantastic design (credited), this is an astonishing piece of art. Shame to eat it really :)

JUST INCREDIBLE!
This is one of my twin girls, just turned three. Tonight they had chicken chippees, fish fingers and chips for dinner (hey, it’s Saturday). One of them finished early and, after asking, went to the fridge and got dessert. The other, despite not having finished her meal, did so too. I didn’t really pay attention to what they got other than make sure it was from the yoghurt/custard shelf.
I turned around a few minutes later to see this one happily munching away on her mix of main and dessert. It took me a few minutes to realise SHE WAS EATING FISH FINGERS AND CUSTARD!
For a second I thought it couldn’t be right. Who would do that? Then of course I made the connection with the Doctor, but she’s never seen that episode (she’s barely three for heaven’s sake). It’s just a coincidence.
But what a freaky coincidence that she would happen upon that particular combination when she has a Dr Who fan for a Dad. And then you realise it’s on the eve of the return of the series?? What are the odds? Makes you realise what a funny world we live in.
Synchronisity highway indeed.
p.s. yes I did try some - it wasn’t half bad surprisingly.

The Daleks of Doctor Who vs. the Blorgons of Inspector Spacetime (via Community). God, I love these shows.

Who can forget the classic “Forgetfullness of the Blorgons” during the seventh (Stephen Fry) Inspector’s hideous final series … and those poignant final lines?

Theodora “Dynamo” McRae: With the other Associates dead - did we do the right thing?
Inspector SpaceTime: Time will tell, Dynamo. It always does. At some point. Usually, if not quite often. If only we knew exactly when.
