As they say in the classics "I'm too old for this shit".
That said, I live in sunny Brisbane (Australia), forging a career in advertising / marketing whilst enjoying life as it comes.
I take photos on my iPhone, listen to (a lot of) music on my iPhone, and like Star Wars. So yes, I'm a geek.
That's about it.
TUMBLRING SINCE AUG 2010
I don’t understand the full technical and political issues relating to this, but absolutely love Missing e, and would be very annoyed if it stopped functioning altogether (which is an option Jeremy has floated).
Posting to Tumblr just got a whole lot harder today, as users of the add-on Missing e found that their browsers would hang with script errors. The add-on’s author, Jeremy Cutler, reports that Missing e may become wholly unavailable due to complaints from Tumblr.
For those of you upset with Tumblr’s interference with this indispensable add-on,there’s a change.org petition here.
Even given Tumblr’s concerns about excessive API calls for some features, there’s no reason to threaten Missing e in its totality. At a minimum, they should be working with Jeremy Cutler to make the extension compatible. Better yet, should they hire Cutler to help them make the Tumblr UI more usable.
I’ve also sent a message to Tumblr support to that effect, and you might do the same.
(P.S.: Some are reporting today’s problematic feature is the “maximum font” setting. If you can get to your settings, try turning that feature off. But the Tumbler/Missing e imbroglio is about more than this feature.)
OK, I get it, Missing E violates your TOS. I’m not going to assume anything about what going on behind the scenes, but take the hint! There’s a reason so many people use the extension. These are features that DIRECTLY improved my personal Tumblr experience:
- Show all tags without cutting them off
- Replace dashboard control text with icons
- Fix endless scroll stalling
- Expand/minimize all thumbnail images together
- Option to keep original tags when reflagging
- Goto dash post
- Always enable photo replies
- Allow inline image uploading for all post types
- Add quick “Queue Post”, “Save Post” and “Save As Draft” when posting
- Reblog yourself
- Post crushes
- REPLY TO REPLIES
Please, just CONSIDER it. And, if you already are, how about some TRANSPARENCY for once? Staying tight-lipped when something like this comes up never makes you look better, and usually makes you look worse.
I’ve never used the “hide radar” option. I love the quick reposting / reblog yourself / reply to replies / goto dash point / keeping original tags when reblogging / add new items text menu.
Please Tumblr, at least allow Missing e to continue with these features. This is a wonderful community to be a part of, but Missing e takes it from fantastic to amazingly brilliant!
